We encourage you to learn the basic steps and make them your genealogy habits.
Use online tools smartly
New features in online Family Tree programs simplify your research recording. Look for the latest tool in Find My Past, copy to clipboard.
This enables you to make a copy of a record’s transcript to paste anywhere.
Set up your Evernote
We suggest that you set up an Evernote account (free version) to store your copied data from your research. Evernote is a powerful, cloud based tool for organising your research in Notebooks.
Start with one family
Find out about one family group one ancestor at a time. Create a record for members of that one family using a Family Group Chart. Locate and practice using various PDF fillable charts for your research records.
Refine your Research
Adding your family group details to a Generation Pedigree Chart, gives an overview of the relationships within those generations. Choose 4, 5, or 10 generation charts depending on the depth of your research.
