Dear fellow family history enthusiasts,
This month of September has refreshed and renewed my horizons in many ways. Here in the border country between Victoria and New South Wales, Australia, and judging by the changes in my street, it is officially spring. I sit at my desk in my home office overlooking the park, and I see skies blueing, blossoms blooming, and grass greening. There are encouraging signs everywhere for renewing my genealogy journeys too! I have mapped out my genealogy tasks for the next three months. Have you? During spring I am focussing on the next generation of genealogy that I like to call Genealogy 2.0. In this blog, I would like to introduce you to this new era and, in particular, to join me at the NextGen Genealogy community at Substack, my latest playground.

1. Introducing a New Era in Genealogy
Welcome to the exciting world of NextGenGenealogy, where cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) meets the timeless pursuit of ancestral discovery. As a seasoned genealogist and AI instructor, I’ve witnessed firsthand the transformative power of technology in our field. Today, I’m thrilled to invite you on a journey that promises to maximise the way we uncover, interpret, and share our family stories.
Brief Bio
I have been addicted to genealogy ever since I learned about the activities of my Celtic ancestors through family stories. I love being a family history detective and kin keeper for my tribes and clans.
Genealogy research began in the 1990s and I continue to uncover the stories of my ancestors from England and Wales.
I love being an educator and geneablogger with a penchant for sharing stories of my ancestors and, more recently, my journey into Ancestry in the Age of AI.
- In 2019, I graduated from the University of Tasmania with a Diploma in Family History, and in 2020, I began my new venture into becoming a Family History Educator. (Edupreneur).
- In 2021 I began the Essential Genealogy Academy and it is now a favourite learning space for all things connected to AI in Genealogy.
- Now in 2024 the academy contains over 30 courses along with a collection of digital downloads and webinar opportunities.
- During the first week of September I created a new space in which I can share my passion about Ancestry in the World of AI; this is the NextGenGenealogy community at Substack.
